On October 29th, as part of Dias de Duncanville, Bike Friendly Duncanville will head up its first group bike ride with councilman Scott Canon leading the way on our “Scary Cycle Tour”. The ride begins at 9AM at Lakeside Park with costumes encouraged. We’ll do a casual tour of Duncanville while heading to the Main Street market where BBQ, live music, and more await.

Last night’s kickoff event for Duncanville Live and Bike Friendly Duncanville was a success! We counted over 300 people in attendance and loved seeing so many kids having fun splashing in the giant inflatable water slides and tubs. Special thanks to Cox Farms for partnering with us on the event and letting us use their lot. The music, food, and outdoor movie were all a hit.. The gourmet snocones from Entice were the talk of the evening and we hope to have them out again for future events.

Also, on the street we were able to create Duncanville’s first bike sharrow symbols, and thinned the higher speed 4 lane Main Street to a calmer, and more family friendly 2 lane road that was much safer to cross and allowed for drivers to slow and see the small businesses in the area that were developed for the event. We hope this leads to future changes that could make our city even more bike friendly! Stay tuned for future events.  Below are some pics from the evening with more located here.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Event, July 30th

We’re kicking off our first event with the help of Duncanville LIVE on July 30th! Walk, bike, or ride to Cox Plaza (beside Cox Farms @ 1026 South Main Street) from 6:30PM – 10:30PM to enjoy water games, food, music, and an outdoor movie. We’ll be showing “Finding Nemo” at sundown on the side of Cox Farms building. We’ll also setup a small market with vendors and more for everyone to enjoy. Bring a blanket and sit out on the lawn and enjoy a great time with your community!

We’re excited to announce the birth of Bike Friendly Duncanville! We hope to promote bicycling initiatives and foster a fun and active bicycling culture throughout the city for people of all ages.
